My transition at The House That Love Built is an ongoing blessing. The support emotionally, mentally, and spiritually will stay in my heart forever. I now have my own residence, a great job, and transportation. Staying positive and having the will to love me was provided to me with undying love from The House That Love Built with blessings from God. Thank you for believing in me.
Staying at The House That Love Built for ten months has given me so much of value in my life. Integrity, Honesty, Fearlessness, Faith and a relationship with God! ❤
I am appreciative for the support and encouragement from the staff at The House That Love Built. Their assistance in my transitioning back into the community was beyond measures.
The faith-based programs re-affirmed my belief in the scripture, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
My experience here at THTLB was life changing. From day one, I did not waste any time in carrying out the plan that I had mapped out for myself before I left Perryville prison. Once I got here to the house, I immediately started taking care of my priorities. I got a job and started saving my money.
I want to thank Ms. Asava and Ms. Gwen for providing me with shelter and support throughout this journey. I was never in a close relationship with God until I came here. The core of this program is Jesus and without Him none of what I have accomplished would have been possible. I believe He placed me here so I could experience that and witness it with my own two eyes.
Since living here at THTLB, I have reconnected with my family, repaired relationships with my loved ones, which I never thought was possible. The structure of this program is what kept me on the right path. Ultimately, you have to make the choice within yourself whether you want to live or die. I chose to live. Thank you, Jesus, and THTLB.
The House That Love Built took me in when I had no where else to go. Ms. Asava and Ms. Gwen showed me so much love from my very first day. I benefited from the structure of the classes and Bible study during the week. I also had the flexibility to work my full time job, attend church and run errands. Ms. Erika helped me work on restoring my relationship with my family. After leaving THTLB I was able to stay sober, get married, buy a house and get back custody of my children. I am forever grateful for all of the support, guidance, and love that I received from THTLB.
When I was in prison I wanted to learn about God, but I didn’t know where to start or how to start. The Lord knew I needed him, so he put me in “The House That Love Built” when I came out of prison.
The House That Love Built, it’s not just a program for girls to put their life together. It’s also a program where you build a family with Gwen and Asava and all the amazing teachers in the classes. I thank God for putting me in their program. Because while attending the program I’ve learned to love myself, I’ve learned to understand God, to connect with him, and with their classes they provide, I have grown and mature to be able to live a successful life on my own. And when times get hard, Gwen and Asava are there to help you not give up, even outside the program when you graduate.
I cannot thank God enough for putting me in the program because it is truly a blessing to me to have attended the program at “The House That Love Built.” Now that I am living on my own, and have graduated from the program, I am fighting for the hardest battle yet, thanks to the program I am standing strong not giving up and knowing that Gwen and Asava are still there by my side. But most importantly, the program has taught me that God will always be by your side.
Thank you Gwen and Asava for the love you have for everyone who comes in your program.
